Gah, I hate being ill

Illness has struck...dum dum dum

For the past week or so I have suffered from just about every minor illness and injury I could have. Vomiting, diarrhoea, nosebleeds, migraines, back pain, knee pain, sore throat, loss of voice and unsurprisingly a bit of depression, although I think that's more down to the sudden reappearance of the cold weather.

So, once again I'm behind on work, i've spent the periods of day when I'm awake and not tired in doing the limited work that I can, and writing french poems, only one is good enough at the moment, but I don't want to put it up yet, not until I've looked at it a bit later and approved it.

Despite being ill, I've also extended my culinary abilities to include risotto and lyonnais potatoes. I have also found the next thing i want to learn, Beer-Cheese soup :O http://souprecipe.org/beer-cheese-soup-ii/

Otherwise, I've been playing pokemon, listening to music and watching a bit of south park. The simple life. At the weekend I shall hopefully be partying hard, I shall be unless i'm ill again, although i'm feeling better right now.

Mamihlapinatapai

So, an odd title for a blog, n'est pas. Mamihlapinatapai is a yaghan word which is undefinable in English. I found it on a cracked.com article of 10 words which English needs to take. For example we have recently started using schadenfreude.

So what is it? It describes "a look shared by two people with each wishing that the other will initiate something that they both desire but which neither one wants to start." More importantly, why would I bother to write a blog about it?

Well I think there is a word for it; Love. It's certainly my opinion of love. When I got to France I met this girl who I instantly had a crush on, but she was in a relationship. We became friends and then she split up with her boyfriend. She started going out with someone else and it felt like we were never going to get together, no matter how much I wanted it.

She has since moved to England for her course, and we've stayed in touch, but she's been giving hints that she actually wants something with me. She keeps saying it would be great for me to go there, or to Germany when she goes there, or that she could come back here.

At some point between when we met and now, I fell in love. And yet I'm still not sure what to do, and now I think she's the same. I would do anything for her, more than I would do for myself. Surely that's a description of love, or as close to what can actually be described by words.

So here's the real problem; I don't know what to do. I know what I want to do, but it's not possible right now cos we're so far apart. I know what I need to do, but it will probably drive me insane.

Extreme Sleep Patterns

I have the uncanny inability to sleep properly. From the start of December to last week I was sleeping 2 or 3 hours a night and I was fine off that. I'd go to bed at 3/4am and wake up between 5 and 7 am. Now, in the space of a week I have shifted to the polar opposite, pretty much. I go to bed between 7 and 10 am and wake up between 7 and 10 pm. So my question is this; why can I not sleep properly?

There is not one constant difference between now and then. I had previously thought that I have a seasonal affective disorder, as last winter I was sleeping on average 20 hours a day, and as much as 30 hours in one go. Although that is an extreme example as I was also ill, it was a pattern for a few years. Now I got to France and couldn't sleep in the winter, but now I'm back to the general trend. WTF is wrong?

I am pretty sure that when it gets to the summer I'll sleep less again, and I just can't find out why. Any suggestions?

So it didn't take long for me to forget to do a blog...

So, it's been a couple of days since I last posted, and I've been feeling kinda shit. I went round a friend's on Thursday and didn't really enjoy it and as such got very very drunk. I've barely left bed since then and I'm about to go out again tonight.

This is a very short post, I just felt like I should keep my blog updated. If I were to do something stupid, how long until it bites me on the arse?

Hello once more

It's really not been long since my last post, but I can't sleep and so I'm writing another. I've been thinking recently about my tendency to mess things up. I can't get through the day without doing something stupid, and I find it's only a matter of time until karma comes knocking.

The problem is that I don't know I'm doing something stupid, I live in the moment and don't look at the long game enough. I'll give you an example, something that probably too many people do; when I meet someone I like then I get scared to do the wrong thing, but if they like me back and give off hints as such, even if they are blatant, I miss them. I'll then realise after I've left and beat myself up about it. How do I stop this?

It's something so simple, but I seem to find myself in this situation far too often. As a result I then become too forward and scare women off, I haven't been in a relationship for nearly 2 years :S

I'm not letting it bring me down right now, I'm enjoying single life, but it would be nice to have someone more than a friend to be there for me all the time.

The Originally Titled Blog Number 2

So, after posting a blog yesterday, I have enjoyed a nice change in mood. After feeling down for a while I'm now happy and I can't put my finger on why. I was ill so I didn't wake up til 4pm, and I haven't done much today. A bit of surfing the net and watching the Will Smith film Hitch. However I shall not complain and I shall live in the moment.

I am now planning travel for the week off I have at the end of February, about a month from now. I shall be travelling back to Lancaster and then on to Paris, something which surely has to be done when studying French. I can't wait!!

What's that I hear? You want to know a bit more about me? Ok, carrying on with the entertainment theme I shall say that I also read a lot and watch a lot of films. I'm currently reading 'The Shining' and it is fast becoming my favourite book. I also like reading a lot of Dan Brown style books, the easy reading being a very good thing for me. I also love the Harry Potter books.

Films; As with music, sport and books I like a wide variety of films. I have a load of action, comedy, romance, horror. I particularly like foreign films, give me anything French or by Studio Ghibli and I'll definitely watch it.
